twitter feature

Twitter has released the feature of encrypted DMs on its platform. Now verified users will be able to send encrypted messages to each other. Let’s know about it.

In the past, Elon Musk had said that encrypted DMs would be featured on Twitter. Now as per the promise of the CEO and owner of the company, the feature of encrypted direct messaging has been released on the platform. However, it has been kept limited. That is, all the users of the platform will not be able to use it.

Regarding encrypted DMs, Elon Musk had earlier said that these messages would be so secure that even if someone put a gun to my head, I would not be able to read these messages. However, Twitter has written in its Help Center blog that at the moment we have not reached this level, but the work is going on. The company has said that encrypted direct messages will appear in your inbox as a separate conversation with existing direct messages.

Not for everyone Features

At present, there are many technical limitations in the encrypted message of Twitter. But, the biggest problem is that it has not yet been made available to everyone. To use it, both the sender and the recipient need to be verified.

For this, users should either be Twitter Blue subscribers or be part of a verified organization. At the moment it is not clear whether this is just an early rollout or this feature is also exclusive to the users with the checkmark.

these are the drawbacks

Talking about the current shortcomings of this feature, it does not support group messages. Also, there is no media support except the link. Also, the company has not given users the feature to report encrypted messages directly. Similarly, new devices will not be able to join existing encrypted conversations.

You can send encrypted messages like this:

Sending encrypted messages on Twitter is just like sending regular messages. But, if you are eligible to send encrypted messages, you will see a toggle after clicking on the message. Also, users will be able to send encrypted messages from the conversation page as well. For this, users have to select unencrypted conversation from the inbox. Then tap on the information icon. After this the Start an encrypted message message has to be selected.
